How To Detox From a Holiday Weekend

After the age of 21 holidays typical mean unusual amounts of food and alcohol. Indulging in extra tasty (read: meaty, boozy, saucy, or sugary) treats is a well-earned privilege. As much as you deserve to enjoy a few days off you also deserve to feel great and guilt-free. Here are a few quick ways to detox from a holiday weekend.

Get Up Early & Go For a Jog

Yeah, I hit you with a hard one to start but jumpstarting your day with a solid 20-30 minutes of cardio will kick your metabolism back into gear and help process any fats and alcohol you've consumed. If you're fortunate enough to have a long weekend ahead getting a jump on your physical activity the day before you head back to work will make a much-needed midday nap even more restorative.

Re-Hydrate

There's no way around it, you need to stay hydrated especially in the summer months. Find a large water bottle and chug, chug, chug. Focus on heavy intake during the morning hours so your body has time to flush while you're active during the day.

Energize Your Organs

Did you know a simple stretch could detoxify your body and tone your organs. Well it can, actually many can, but my favorite is a yoga pose called "revolved chair." Start with a few deep breaths, lifting your arms up above your head then exhaling down to touch your toes first then go right into this stretch. Whether this is your total workout for the day or a primer to a sweat session - your body will thank you.
